Congratulations on having your bundle or bundles of joy. Time flys especially in the first year of a child. In a few years time you will wonder where that time goes as you see images of your little one or ones so tiny. Newborn images need to be taken within the first two weeks as they grown so fast normally unless really tiny. After two weeks they may not fit in outfits or props or can be positioned the same way as a Newborn, so be fast booking these sessions in.
However sometimes things do not go to plan and life gets in the way, such as staying in hospital, visiting all family members, appointments etc. If this happens do not panic you can still book a photoshoot and get some beautiful images. Please referto the Baby Photography page.
Also there are milestone images later on you may want to do, for example, once they can lay on their front and lift their head, sit unaided, crawl, explore and walk. There are so much more different types of photoshoots you do with them. For example exploring painting for the first time where we cover the floor huge paper some blobs of paint to capture the child exploring and gingo wild, Location shoots in the flowers and even a family baking session (see seasonal page for images).
My advise is you cannot have too many images and good experiences with your loved ones.
Things to think about when booking a session
When booking a session, please take note of when your baby or babies is at the happiest and sleepiest during the day so you can book a time which suits them. If your baby or babies do not have a routine do not worry. A baby photography session should always be baby lead. So even if you have something in mind what you want out of the session, often it can change depending how the baby presents.
In a session we expect to get some images of the baby by themselves and some in hold. This is not always possible due to the mood of the baby. Some will just want too be held for the whole time or just to unsettled to be by themselves.
However, even though it is a baby lead session, it is important to tell the photographer the style of images you like so they can use the time effectively. For example if you want the nests, costumes etc, please state in the communication. Some peope pefer just a more simple blanket style. Communication before hand is key. Go through the photographer's images and get some samples on google search you like and send them to the photographer prior to the photoshoot.
Siblings !
If you want images to be with siblings, the photographer strongly advises to book a seperate session if the siblings are under 5, this is because usually once settled there is only a short window to take images of a baby. Also siblings of young age tend to get bored waiting, do not understand fully what is going on and that there is a time frame and they are feeling big emotions because someone else is getting alot of the attention suddenly in their lifes so therefore getting the desired expessions becomes impossible, so these images would need to be taken in the first few minutes and the siblings then would need to be collected and looked after away from the location the photoshoot is happening in to keep the atomsphere calm. Remember young children feed off the emotion in the room. By booking a seperate session for sibling photoshoots also make siblings feel special and more involved as the focus suddenly shifts more on them, not just on baby, mum and baby, dad and baby.
What to Bring
You baby bag, snacks, drink, spare clothing your yourself encase of accidents during held images, any special clothing or items yoou want in some of the images.
Length of the session
I do not do back to back appointments a newborn session lasts 2 hours. The actual photography time depends on the mood of the baby, feeding time etc. it is a baby lead session so there is now rush.
Mobile phones, cameras, tablets and devices which can take images and videos
Other then the photographer's equipment, camera, phone, laptop etc. No-one else is allowed to take images and videos during the session. Therefore I ask these personal devices are to be turned off and out of arms reach during the session or locked away. If you are seen taking images or videos the session will stop and you will be asked to delete all images and videos you have taken and show the photographer you have done this. Failing to do this means the session will be terminated and no refund given. Please repect photographers copyright, this practice is acrossed photography buisnesses nation wide.
Editing
I edit the images myself after the baby sessions. This takes time, please see images of skin tidyup on this page, I do not use filters as I like making the skin look as natural as possible. Extreme touch up and changes may concure additional charges.

Yes of course! if sharing on soical media please can you add a link to my website or Facebook or other social media links. I would really appreciate this as being self employed I rely on word of mouth so I would be delighted if you shared your photos.
How long the photographer keeps the images for
Unless you have given permission for the photographer to use the images (images used on websites and social media may result in a particle shoot refund or a free mini photoshoot etc, these offers are down the photographers discretion). The images are only kept for 60 days, after this time the photographer deletes them permanently.
Sometimes guardians would like a skin tidy up. To the left the mother's newborn developed a milk allergy after leaving the hospital, so his skin turned red and was coveed in rash bumps. The mother wanted his skin to look like when he was born. So after a minimal tidy up as the photographer still wanted the skin to look like skin, I worked with the mother to get the skin tone to how she remembered it when he was born. This was the most extreme tidy up I as a the Photographer will do. Below is the basic tidyup if the little one has a rash or a scratch. A basic tidyup is included in the price of a baby and newborn shoot. Any tidyup which takes hours to edit there maye an extra charge.
